Before the Storm
I took this image on an evening after work. I set out to the closed section of Summit Road in Christchurch, New Zealand to photograph a composition I was confident would work after looking at satellite imagery of the location, and confirming the direction of light for the time of day I was expecting to be on location. Unfortunately what I had visualized in my mind just didn't work, but the location has an abundance of photographic potential. With this in mind, I decided to keep walking instead of turning back home. When I finally made it to a spot that was well lit, I again looked for possible compositions which resulted in me setting up on an elevated bank along the side of this closed road.
I love the composition with the classic S curve throughout the image, and after possibly 300 exposures and a lot of waiting, I was confident that I had an image that I was going to be adding to my portfolio.
